Frequently asked questions

General questions about riding trips

A riding holiday combines riding with travel, where you not only take beautiful outdoor rides, but also discover new cultures, landscapes and traditions. These holidays are suitable for both beginners and advanced riders.

Horse riding trips are for everyone who loves horses and adventure. Whether you are an experienced rider or a beginner, there are trips to suit your experience level. Some trips are also suitable for non-riders with alternative activities such as wine tastings, cultural visits and hikes.

Not necessarily. Many horse riding tours offer programmes for different levels. It is important to discuss your riding level when booking so that the right horses and activities can be matched to your experience.

Practical information

  • Riding breeches(s) and comfortable clothing
  • Riding boots or chaps
  • Helmet mandatory!!! (Some venues offer these, but it is safer to bring your own)
  • Gloves, sunscreen and a hat for outdoor rides
  • Rainwear (depending on the season)
  • Swimwear for locations with rivers, lakes or swimming pools

All our venues work with experienced trainers and well-trained horses. They also provide protective equipment such as helmets. It is important to be open about your level of experience so that your horse and activities match your skills.

It is compulsory always to take out travel insurance that also covers equestrian activities. Check whether your current insurance covers this or take out a separate cover.

At Horse Holidays, we make every effort to make your experience as enjoyable and safe as possible. Nevertheless, it is important to stress that horse riding is a high-risk sport. Accidents, such as falling off a horse, can unfortunately always happen.

As I cannot estimate in advance how experienced a person actually is in riding, the responsibility for participation and any risks lies with the participant. It is compulsory to make your own arrangements for appropriate accident and liability insurance covering horse riding, including abroad.

Please note: I am not in a position to arrange insurance for participants and bear no responsibility for any accidents or damages that occur during horse riding and horse holidays.
